Monio for Kids Grey Velvet Padded Nest Playmat

A flat playmat marks out a patch of floor, but a raised, padded edge turns it into a space a baby can settle into. The Monio for Kids Velvet Padded Nest Playmat has an inner play area of approximately 90cm, ringed by an edge of around 12cm built from a 4cm foam base and a layer of silicone ball fill that holds its shape through everyday play. The velvet cover, 95% cotton and 5% elastane, is soft against skin. It unzips from the foam base for machine washing on a delicate cycle at 30°.

The Velvet Padded Nest Playmat is the Monio nest for parents who want a crisp, tailored finish. The 95% cotton, 5% elastane velvet cover gives a smooth surface that holds its appearance across regular use and sits quietly in neutral interiors. Like the Linen version, it is built from a 4cm foam base and silicone ball fill with an edge of approximately 12cm, and shares the same inner play area of approximately 90cm. For rooms where the playmat will be a visible floor feature, the velvet cover maintains a consistent finish rather than developing the natural variation that linen shows with age.

What age is the Velvet Padded Nest Playmat suitable for?

Suitable from birth for supervised floor play. The padded nest walls provide a soft, defined floor space for tummy time and early exploration from the newborn stage. The inner play area of approximately 90cm gives enough room for a mobile baby to move within the nest walls, and most families use the mat actively through the sitting and early crawling stages to around 12 to 18 months.

What are the dimensions of the Velvet Playmat?

The inner play area is approximately 90cm in diameter, and the full outer mat measures approximately 105cm across including the nest walls. The walls stand approximately 12cm high over a 4cm foam base. Allow a clear floor area of about 110 x 110cm.

What is the velvet fabric made from?

The velvet outer cover is 95% cotton and 5% elastane, which gives the fabric its smooth surface and slight stretch. It is a cotton-rich velvet rather than a polyester one. The elastane content allows the cover to fit cleanly over the foam and silicone fill inner without loose fabric at the base. The cover is removable via zip fastening for washing.

How do you wash the Velvet Playmat?

Remove the outer cover using the zip fastening and machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle. Do not tumble dry. Air dry fully before replacing the cover over the foam and silicone fill inner. Avoid harsh rubbing when wet as velvet can mark when damp. The foam and silicone fill inner is spot clean only.

What is the difference between the Velvet and Linen Padded Nest Playmats?

Both share the same construction and size: an inner play area of approximately 90cm, a total diameter of approximately 105cm, a 4cm foam base with silicone ball fill, and a raised edge of approximately 12cm. The difference is the outer cover: linen has a natural woven texture that softens with use, while velvet is a smooth 95% cotton, 5% elastane blend that maintains a consistent finish. Velvet has a crisper, more tailored look; linen has a more relaxed, textural appearance. If you would like a larger nest, the Cotton version measures approximately 95cm inside and 115 to 120cm overall.
